Overview

The Guided Meditation Session titled “True Self Meditation” introduced participants to the foundational practices of meditation, emphasizing the importance of connecting with one’s authentic self and consciousness. The session began with a guided positioning to promote relaxation and awareness, complemented by an insightful quote from Paramahansa Yogananda. Attendees engaged in Qigong movement to enhance mindfulness and deepen their awareness through gentle neck rotations. This was followed by a heart-centered visualization exercise that involved deep breathing and the imaginative process of visualizing a star descending into the heart, fostering joy through the smile mudra. Participants then visualized this star transforming into a sun that cleansed negativity and expanded outward, promoting emotional healing, particularly at the back of the heart. The meditation culminated in a full-body energy integration exercise, where participants expanded a golden-white light throughout their entire being, affirming their true nature as pure consciousness while releasing fears and providing protection.

  • Using this energy to dissolve fears and provide protection
  • Final affirmation of our true nature as pure consciousness

Welcome today’s true self meditation. Find yourself in a comfortable seated position with your spine straight. Imagine at the top of your head, there’s a golden thread that’s moving from the very topmost point of your head. And imagine someone above you is pulling that thread, just ever so gently, so that it pulls your entire head and spine just a little bit up and straight. Feel your shoulders relaxed, your body relaxed. Ensure that there’s no distractions and set the intention to connect with your true, authentic self, with consciousness and with your soul. Closing your eyes and taking a few deep breaths. And as you’re breathing deeply, letting go of any thoughts or worries, anything that’s happened already today, anything that is needing to happen in the future, letting go of all of that now and sinking into this present moment. 
To begin, we’re going to read a quote from Paramahansa Yogananda. With your eyes closed, listen to these words. Your form is invisible to you. How do you know you exist? You are aware of the body’s weight. You can hear, smell, taste and touch. Nevertheless, you are real to yourself only in terms of ideas. You are an invisible nucleus around which many thoughts are moving. Now open your eyes. Are you the form that you see or that inner being you were just now conscious of with eyes closed? So, closing your eyes again with this knowing that you are far more than your senses, far more than your body and your mind and your emotions, that you are something far greater, more expansive, that you are pure love, joy, peace, bliss, equanimity. 


And today we’re going to support you to drop more deeply into that knowing and awareness. And so, with your eyes closed, we’re now going to do the simple qigong movement. Turning your head slowly from side to side. So once again ensuring that your spine and neck is straight, eyes closed, taking a few deep breaths and beginning to slowly, very slowly, move your neck from side to side, to the left and then back to the right. As you do this movement, remembering not to stretch or push your neck to any point of discomfort. The purpose of this exercise is to support you to drop more deeply into a state of presence and awareness. 


So as you’re very slowly moving your neck from side to side, become aware of all the movements of all the muscles and all the bones in your neck, in your spine, in your jaw, in your throat. Put all of your focus and awareness on these subtle movements. Drop into a state of total awareness and presence. Allow your mind to be fully consumed by these movements. Continuing a few more times, dropping deeper still into this state of Pure loving awareness and presence. Putting all of your focus on these subtle yet profound movements. Letting go deeper and deeper into this space. When you’re ready, coming back to your regular posture. Now place all of your mental focus, your awareness on your heart center, the very center of your chest. And now taking a few deep breaths and allowing a gentle sigh on the exhale. 
So we’re going to do three deep breaths starting now. And as you exhale, just a nice relaxing sigh. And as you sigh, release any tension in your body. Breathing in pure life, pure love, pure joy. And exhaling and sighing out any tension, any thoughts, any feelings, any worries. Just letting those go now and grounding yourself more fully into this present moment. Breathing deeply and fully. If you’d like, you can do one more sigh. Noticing how powerful a simple sigh can be when we place our full awareness and presence and intention into it. Now just feeling your body, feeling yourself here, noticing the presence, noticing pure awareness. And now imagine in front of you a star. Imagine a night sky in front of you with a star, a single star shining brightly. See its shine and glimmer. Feel the presence of this great celestial sun. 


And imagine that this star is you. And imagine the star now moving down from the sky towards you, that this is you and it’s also not you and it’s moving towards you. And imagine and feel and know that this star is descending from the heavens, moving towards you. As it gets closer, a feeling of joy and peace and presence washes over you. As it gets closer, it calms your entire system. Imagine it getting closer and closer until it’s right front of you, this beautiful radiant star. Imagine it right in front of your heart, the center of your chest, your heart chakra. Imagine it entering this space within you. Imagine it moving through your physical skin and bones, your physical being. Imagine the star in the center of your chest, in your sacred heart. 


And as you feel this star moving and filling your chest, feeling the warmth of its presence, the sense of peace, equanimity, joy, bliss, love. These different feelings and sensations and experiences that this is what you are, this is what we all are. This is our true essence. And so as you feel this star filling your chest and shining, engage a smile on your face. Imagine yourself smiling physically. This is the smile Mudra. And it helps to cultivate joy and happiness. And as you smile physically on your face, imagine that smile within your heart center. Imagine that smile mixing with this star within your heart center. And feel how this smile amplifies this experience of joy and peace and equanimity. Now Taking some deep breaths into this star, into this smile in your chest. Breathing deeply and put all of your focus there. 
Now see this star as a glimmering white golden light. A white and gold star shimmering in your chest. And imagine it growing and expanding. Imagine this star filling your entire chest so it transforms from a star into a miniature sun. Continuing to smile and feeling that sense of joy and bliss and pleasure in your heart. So imagining this golden white star, sun warming you, filling you, illuminating you from the inside out, feeling it cleanse and purify you of any negativity, any walls around your heart, any constriction and any tension, giving to this sacred sun, this sacred star, any fear, any worry, any sadness or anger, any grief. And noticing how this sun transmutes this energy and turns it into pure light, pure love, pure power, pure potential. Continuing to cultivate this sense of joy and peace and bliss in your heart. 


Continuing to give any negativity to this sun, this star. And notice how this sun in your heart supports you to let go and surrender and to be. Now imagine it growing, still expanding into your whole chest cavity and now going outward beyond your physical body. Imagine this sun, this ball of golden white light filling out a few inches from your body, filling from the front, the sides, and especially the back, putting your awareness on the back of your heart. We can hold a lot of emotional energy in the back of our heart. It can be a space of feeling betrayed, abandoned, hurt, and we can sometimes forget about our back. So feeling the sun fill and radiate out beyond your back and cleansing that space behind your heart so that there’s this giant ball, globe, sun. 


And imagine it filling up now towards your crown, filling and expanding out and filling through your throat, your shoulders, up to your jaw, to the base of the head, up towards your crown and the top of your head, filling your entire brain up to your crown. Imagine it descending through your solar plexus, through your stomach and your internal organs, down towards your feet, this same golden white orb filling down to your sit bones, filling your spine, filling your thighs, your internal organs, your hips, your inner hips, your knees, down to the bottom of your feet and down into the earth through your roots. 


So allowing this golden white sun solar star energy to fill your entire physical body, every cell, to the palms of your hands, the bottom of your feet, the crown of your head, and feel it expanding out an arm’s length from your physical body. So you become fully this golden white solar sun energy radiating pure love, pure joy, pure bliss as it fills your aura, as it fills your physical, etheric body as it fills your astral, emotional body, your sensory body, your mental body as it fills all thoughts and all thought forms as it fills every ounce of your psychic and physical and entire being. This energy dissolves any fears, any worries, any negativity, any darkness that no longer serves any ignorance, any pain and also provides a sense of protection and presence and pure love. 


And so taking a few deep breaths, allowing yourself to abide and be present in this energy continuing to imagine it filling your being and to know that this is the truth of who you are, that we are light, we are pure. That our consciousness is pure, our awareness is pure, our soul is pure. This sense of joy and equanimity and peace and bliss is who we are. It’s what we are. And so if you would like, you can continue to be present in this space and abide in this space. This is the end of our meditation. Thank you. Have a blessed day.
