A Little Yellow Bird Spoke to Me
I glanced out my kitchen window, and my heart filled with a warm joyful fuzzy sensation.
There on the lilac bush was a little yellow bird, having its morning snack.
It was a small finch – Kind of like a sparrow, but golden-yellow.
I stopped what I was doing, and I listened deeply…
Not with my ears, but with my heart.
As I began to listen, the finch jumped off the branch and flew in mid air right in front of the window.
He hovered there for a moment, before continuing his breakfast.
For me, that was a miraculous moment. It wasn’t just a little yellow bird I was listening to…
I could hear God in that moment, and he was telling me that everything is going to be ok.
He talks to us all, everyday. Most people have forgotten how to listen.
That is why I love nature. It is pure and True.
It is easy to hear God’s whispers when you spend time with His Creation.
Your heart already knows how to listen, you just have to learn to move from your head to your heart.
One of my elders often says that is the longest journey.
Begin it. Start your journey. But don’t go it alone. You won’t get far.
